So,the "Popeye Classic" has come and gone.
On spray-tanned bodies, the stage lights have shone.
Months of preparation time have passed,
The competition time, it came at last.
Push, pull and lift the weights, repeat, repeat.
Back and biceps, chest and triceps, careful not to cheat.
Glutes and quads, hamstring and calf, don't forget the abdomen.
How important was the food, cod and yam, spinach and chicken, on and on.
Practice the pose, practice the walk, go to the trainer, listen to talk.
Go to the meeting, and patiently wait,
Get a number, check your height and weight.
First tan at nine, then make up and hair at three in the morning.
Another tan at six, then to the venue by nine, more waiting, waiting.
Go to the pump room, see the rest of your class
Most, a little bit nervous and keep to themselves.
Finally, called to the stage and stand on my spot,
Do those poses that I've practiced a lot.
My result I won't know 'till I come back at night,
But the Popeye show , its managed just right.
